Un libanés en mi cocina / A lebanese in my kitchen

(English version below)

Delicioso! Gracias Hadi!

English version
One of my co-workers, that fortunately I can also call a friend, comes from Lebanon. He is a special someone, his kindness and simplicity are out of the ordinary.  More than once we talked about food and among all his qualities he is a great cooker. In fact, every time he brings his lunch at work we always steal some to try… like this little by little I became curious to know more about this culinary culture that, as you will see, goes far beyond the Kebab!

To learn a bit more about it I asked Hadi (the person I have been talking about until now) if he would like to come to my place and cook together many small dishes. It was by the way and excellent excuse to get together with all my friends from work. Since there are some that finished and left the lab and others that will leave soon (including my boyfriend…) it was very nice to be together again and who knows maybe for a last time??? Honestly hopefully not.

We went with Hadi to the market on Saturday and then we waited for Sunday to arrive. Poor him, he woke up at 8 in the morning… and for a Sunday I know he made a great effort. Cooking with Hadi was a great pleasure. We cooked non-stop, with a "mate" from time to time and between laughter and stress the morning passed by. The dream team. We even talked about opening an Argentinina-Lebanese restaurant… have you ever seen one?

The ¨guests¨ started to arrive around noon and of course we were not done yet but it was no problem, we put them to work as well.  Just the last details were missing, salads, setting up the table, opening a bottle of wine and so on.

Finally the moment we were all waiting for arrived and in no minute we were all ready to attack! The table looked so good, so colorful, reds and greens, so aromatic, garlic and cinammon. Salads, homemade libanese bread with eggplant paste or hummus, safeeha or meat pies, eggplants mussaka and chicken. Everything was incredibly good.
The table is quite small and we are a bit tight but it doesn’t matter, we are hungry, happy and together. But above all we were eating incredibly good homemade food. Thank you Hadi!!

This month the theme for ¨La Vuelta al Mundo¨ was diptychs. I loved this subject because is very creative and more often than not an image makes sense when is part of something else, like ¨the other half¨. Thanks Jackie and loved it, but I'm so sad that our course finished :( Lovely little course you gave us. You are the best!
