Poterie et mes premières pièces dans mon atelier / Pottery and my first pieces in my own space

(English version below)

Flo

Hi, it’ been a while since the last time! Actually I spent some time to organize my space and to start my first pieces! At the beginning it was kind of odd, I was sitting in front of my clay without any ideas… like “What am I going to do with this grey bowl?!” Thus my first assays were …hummm how can I describe them… horrible, like something that scares you! After the time that took me to settle down in my atelier and my new ¨independency¨, my ideas started to run and I found a better way to work with the clay. For example, to flatten the clay we normally use a special machine called “laminoire” at Anita’s (my pottery’s professor) place which makes your life easier. For the moment I don’t have such a machine so I’ve replaced it with a rolling pin… Of course at the beginning my pieces were so thick, beurk so ugly! but after setting up my little system you know what? it works!!!

So, now it’s the moment to show you my first vase made in my space (first image). I like it because the top is quite original and the blue color looks like the thick ocean, mmmhhh you see what I mean ;). I was so happy with it that I wanted to offer it to everybody and to make clones of it! I’ve finally decided to keep it only for me in behalf of my first piece done in my space.

In the same style, here is a black and white vase which is interesting in term of originality (second and third images) and it is not glazed which gives a special aspect! It’s crazy because a friend of my parents-in-law liked it so much that they asked me to do a similar one for her, yeahhhh it’s my first order, I can’t believe it! By the way if you would like to order one of these objects, please do not hesitate, I would be very happy to start my little business ;)

Do you remember my first coffee cups? I didn’t want to forget this idea so I continue to imagine new cups because coffee is so good in ceramic…try it!!! Those have a drop-like shape (4th and 5th images) and in fact it’s funny to see that some of my pieces have this shape like the black and white vase just above. Anita is always saying that you can read into people insides by the way they work with clay…so maybe these drops reveal something about me (I would like to find what it means though!).

I have a so much fun in my space and I love creating new things! I have a lot of new creations in the oven by now and I am so excited to show them to you next time! When I open my atelier door I can smell a special fragrance that makes me feel addicted… it is such a pleasure for me, hopefully I can transmit this to you!

See you next time and thanks to Nieves for these beautiful pictures! Each thing you touch starts to shine!

Nuestro primer ¨Tea Time¨ / Our first ¨Tea Time¨

(English version below)

Barbara me sonrie.

All of a sudden I was back in Buenos Aires, markets in bars, people talking, sharing, having a good time on a Sunday afternoon. The funny thing this time was that I was on the other side of the bar offering some good treats to savor. I’m talking about the Tea Time I have told you about a few weeks ago, we have made a blog out of it, go and see more images if you wish, the event was soooo nice!!! I just want to thank so much Flor for her huge help preparing the teas; I don’t know if I could have done it alone… thanks Flor!

The whole afternoon was nothing but perfect, just as we thought it would be. People came and stayed for hours… “oh look at that wonderfull necklace!!! I will talk with Erelle, she will tell me more about her ideas. Maybe after taking a cup of tea and, ok, also a cupcake, they look so… pink. After the necklace I see that vintage style shirt, it is so chick! I love it, ups that girl is trying it on... no no don’t buy it. I go to talk to Barbara, maybe she has other ones, oh no it is unique! She decides not to take it, I try it on, it fits perfectly, and it feels so good! It’s mine, Barbara smiles at me.

The shirt from Viva Frida and the necklace from Baies d’Erelle look so go together, the perfect couple, I’m so happy to have them! And like this it is already 6 pm and I am here since hours… how come, the same bar, the same people… I am having a good time, I don’t want to leave, let’s have another cup of tea, Flor an Assan please!! Together with some cookies, yumie!

And what is that? It calls my attention, alfajores!! What are them? What do they have inside? They are so cute! I try one, I open my eyes so big, what a wonderful taste, I was not expecting this, they are delicious!! What is it inside? “dulce de leche”. This is when I, so proud, explain everything about them, where do they come from, what are them, and of course who made them (I told you I was modest). I feel so good when people accept what I love, what represents me the most, alfajores is my culture, one of the few things you only find down there in South America.

All in all, the Tea Time was a great success, at least to my soul. Burst of creativity, warmth and people smiling. I hope you can come to the next one, the Christmas Tea Time on December 18th again at Zooburger (confirm here please or by leaving me a comment). Come to have a good time and don’t become crazy buying Christmas gifts… we would like you to feel in heaven when you buy Christmas gifts and not in hell!

Brunch berlinés y blinis rusos / Berliner brunch and russian blinis

(English version below)

English version!

Some weeks ago I was in Berlin. The city of brunches (breakfast and lunch put together), vintage clothes, flea markets and grafittis. I could say much more things about Berlin but these are the first things that came to my mind while writing this post. Berlin, captivating city, unique and where every bar invites you to come in... here, another good description, and I could go on and on. Berlin, a city that delights me.

It is the second time I visit Berlin, naturally I love it! I think it is an incredible city that tells you with regards and sadness the story of their past, it transmit it in a very pure manner. Suddenly you are part of them just by walking the streets, observing. The city tells you what they lived time ago... no so far away...

Chocolate caliente ruso (con vodka) y cerveza berlinesa  / Russian hot chocolate (with vodka) and berliner beer

The wall does not exist anymore but you don't need a barrier to see the differences between Berlin West and East. The West side is imposing, modern, like many other big city maybe ¨newer¨. The East side is... grafittis, flea markets and people with beard and personality. This is the part of Berlin that I liked and enjoyed the most, because is different to everything I saw before, cause is beautiful, cause is simple.

The fashion in Berlin (well everywhere I think nowadays...) are the brunches and of course we did this every day, we brunched like crazy!! in Anna Blum in Prenzlauer or Gorki Park in Mitte, two places I strongly recommend. In the East side, as you may know, the russian influence is very strong, dumplings and blinis are always a choice for a brunch. Blinis are a kind of crêpe that I thought it would be a good recipe to share with you and to put you into this berliner atmosphere.

I made them for a brunch back home with the friends we shared this trip with. We had such a good time that we wanted to bring to life the berliner spirit again and so these blinis seemed to be the perfect choice. You can eat them with cheese and honey, with jam or with whatever you wish. They don't say much by themselves to be honest, but when you start putting all these stuffs they are delicious and make a very good dish for a brunch!

Tea Time con Baies d'Erelle y Viva Frida / Tea Time with Baies d'Erelle and Viva Frida
