Poterie avec Floriane / Pottery with Floriane

English below

English version

Hi! I am Floriane and a beginner in this whole pottery thing but in a short period of time I realized that I actually love it!

Nieves gave me the opportunity to create a “pottery space” for me on her blog, that’s great! it is in fact a great opportunity to show you my work and of course my improvement (I hope...). It also reminds me that I’m doing a special plate for Nieves's famous pies, yumie! they are delicious!

I like pottery because we can make almost everything with clay and that’s very exciting! Even if I still have tones of techniques to discover it’s already quite easy to create nice things like those coffee cups. It’s really surprising how warm the coffee remains and how good the taste is! it is special.

I follow pottery lessons once a week but, it’s really too short of a time! Reason why I’ve decided to set up “my space” in the cellar of my parent’s boyfriend, so cool the parents in law, no?! For the moment, as you can see, it still looks like a cellar but as soon as it becomes a pottery space I will post new pictures! At the end I only need a wooden table, clay and tools! Oh yes and maybe some "savoir-faire" could help… For the future an oven would be necessary but at the beginning I will bring my stuff to Anita's for baking.

When people think of pottery they usually imagine big heavy red bowls (actually this can be the case and can be very nice as well) but I realize that we can make beautiful objects with design!

Future atelier!

On one of these pics you can see a little bowl made with a potter’s wheel, then blue paint was “blowed” and damped into glaze to make it shine. Under this bowl, you can see a little plate, actually I never used it as a plate, I should try though... To do the white leaf/shadow, you just need to put a leaf (or what ever you want) on the plate surface and blow black paint.

I will post new pictures as soon as I make new things! See you soon!!

Bienvenidos a Irlanda / Welcome to Ireland

English below

Pasen

Bienvenidos a Irlanda, pasen!!! / Welcome to Ireland, come in!!

Just arrived: Port and Bed & Breakfast of Dingle

Walking around

More walking around

Noche inolvidable.

Morning market and straight to the beach!

Irish breakfast y mas Dingle, es dificil dejarla. Paseamos y paseamos. Mercado!! Chiquito y acogedor, perfecto!

They let us through...

Direccion Ring of Kerry, parada en Killarney, destino final Kenmare. Paisajes INCREIBLES! Imponentes, verdes y azules, puros.

On the way to Kenmare

English version

Four days of holidays surrounded by green landscapes, nature at its maximum exponenet. Nothing produced or programmed, nature 100%. This is Ireland. Come in !

Land of cheery people, nice, kind and funny !! Land of goats, cute and good (I have to confess that I ate some….). Land of funny doors, I wonder if there is a door similar to the one ¨next door¨. And last but obviously not least, land of ¨irish pubs¨ and Guiness! Perfect four days spent in Ireland.

After the effort, it comes the pleasure

We arrived at Dublin airport; there were A's sister, mom and dad waiting for us read to start our trip; we head south. First stop Dingle

Three hours driving and we were there. Days are long and the sun welcomed us. Our Bed and Breakfast was highly irish (O’Neil), a very nice guy  (irish obviously) recieved us with a great smile and showed us the house transformed in a B&B. Completely charming, It made me feel home somehow.
Once settled we went to discover the city, well… village I would say.. .sorry lovely village is better. How to explain…. special. Let’s buy mom a postcard.
Its late for dinner ( 19.00 hs… irish dinner….). The port seems to be the perfect place for a start. Guiness of course. And after that, irish pub, a shoe store and a bar altogether…. Only in Ireland you can find such a thing ! Unforgetable night !

Almost Hogwarts

Irish breakfast and more Dingle, it is very difficult to leave this town. We went around and around and we found a farmer’s market !! charming little thing ! we picked up the car and went to the beach and to see more landscapes. Wind and sun and such a nice beach ! Back to town and of course to the market to get something to eat. I buy a cupcake for dessert (no matter where or what we were eating for lunch) and a carrot cake for the way.

After lunch and cupcake (incredible white chocolate cupcake) we head the Ring of Kerry, we made a stop in Killarney to reach our final destiny, Kenmare. All the way to these places were amazing things to see. Imposing green and blue colours, purity.

Charming Maynooth

Once in Kenmare, we enjoyed the day walking in the Gleninchaquin park. Beautiful indeed ! Ireland is not tired of giving us wonderfull landscapes and a lot of sun ! When we were tired enough and hungry we went to THE place. The owner of the B&B in Kenmare (Annagry house), another charming irish guy, recommended us this place, the Killmackillogue Pier, where there is nothing more than the sea, a bar and the best mussels ever ! What else do you need ??

And since every good stuff has an end… the day after we drove back. But it is not the very end of the story ! we spent the nigh in Maynooth (Valera,  A’s sister, lives here).  We arrived late afternoon and the weather was not very encouraging… V. and me went for a walk anyways to visit the University and walk around a little bit. Oh yes we were are so clever the girls… (hihi). A big sun made his ways between the clouds and once again we had a warm evening.

Bye bye :)

Maynooth is beautiful, I could breath Ireland. The University is lovely !!! For a moment I felt like living in Harry Potter and that I was in Hogwarts !! (ups go away inside child ! or stay… whatever, it’s me…). Next morning, fly back home. See you soon Ireland !
