Italaus

(english below)

Since I'm living in Switzerland I unexpectedly found my-self submerged into the Italian culture. Not only because A. is italian and I live with him the most amazing things of life, but also because I met many italians that I like a lot, beginning with Simona.

Simona, Italian and half Suisse now (and lets say half argentinian as well) is my friend. She belongs to an association that aims to disseminate the Italian culture here in Switzerland, but you better have a look in their website (Italaus). They are all students that got together and created this and they started their activities by a dinner in the Casino de Montbenon (Lausanne).

On March 17th italians celebrate the Italian Unification and the very first big event of Italaus was indeed La Notte Tricolore, a night meant to present themselves and to celebrate this special date. Of course there we were A. and me, because I love this country and its people I could't miss it.

It was a charming night with good food (obviously) and good shows, from poetry to theatre and then I also got to learn some things about Italy!!! But mostly I spent a great time with nice people.

Well done guys! great night!

¨Une fois par semaine¨

(English below)

Mi polera / my sweater

Llego a casa tarde.

¨Once a week¨ or ¨Club Tricot¨ is how we called the group in which me and my neighbors get together, obviously once a week... nothing formal we just eat and then we knit... ok ok we chat, drink tee, play some games (I like taboo and even though is in french I can manage!), let's say that sometimes we knit.
This Tuesday was at my place and the plan was to make bonnets for the babies in Guatemala, a publicity from IKEA... ok it's a good excuse to start knitting something since after my sweater  I didn't really started anything new, and then if we actually get to help somebody, much better!
So I asked to my-self, what can I cook for the girls?  it should be something good and that leave you satisfied! Tuesday, beginning of the week and loads of things to do at work. I will arrive home late and the Suisse dinner timetable is at 19.30 hs. Think think!
Yes! something A. loves! Potato pie!

Ok I have the solution and everything needed at home except for the meat but nothing that a quick stop by the supermarket cannot manage. This is an easy recipe and typical from where I come from but I have to confess that it is pretty much adapted to my taste... I have always thought that this recipe was Argentinian but guess what... do you know the hachis parmentier? we know it better as potato pie... and there it is, it is also supposed to be a typical french dish! mmm
Who cares where it comes from at the end? the important thing is that it is tasty, warm and ¨heart-filling¨, ideal! Of course no dinner is complete without the dessert, thanks Marion your mousse was delicious!!

Viva Frida
This is the very first day in which I started this blog so I think it is a very good starting point! It's Saturday and B., my friend and creator of Viva Frida, went to India for the new collection. This is why is my turn to take care of her adorable boutique! We are in March but the sun is warm and as soon as I went out home the smell in the air said market! and so it is that I decided to pass by before opening. When I arrived I realized that I was not the only one to breath the market... it was full of people!
I walked around a little bit and since Ale bought some stuff to do piadina I thought it would be a good idea to buy some stracchino. I stopped in the most italian stand of the market and I bought the cheese and my lunch... arancini! mmm so good!
And that was my short but comforting walk through the market!

Intro

Welcome to the Pampa Dulce Blog. I'm Nieves and I come from Argentina but I live in Lausanne (Switzerland) for the moment .... means that I have absolutely no idea of what will happen after I finish my PhD (to avoid questions ...). It has been already some time ago that I am obsessed with cooking and decoration blogs and the combination of both and then I thougth about doing one of my own.
Sice I'm here in Lausanne I discovered
many things about myself that I didn't even know were there... for example until about 4 years I always thought I hated cooking, now I actually cook for the "public" I have a website and I sell alfajores, cakes and goodies (dulcepampa.com for some pub), in fact argentinian goodies, that are very well appreciated by the swiss comunity. Besides that, I love to cook at home, invite friends and make new things and make them go home happy and with their souls full of good moments. Well it is also true that I love eating my-self and I feel happy before, during and after working on a recipe.

Appart from this I also like photography. It all started with a Nikon long long time ago now that my pseudo-brother gave us. To tell you the truth I was the taking pics all the time-girl... Time went on, cameras as well and this passion grew stronger. Now I have a Canon 500D which gave me the love of my life.
My third passion is travel. travel. travel. New places, new people, walk, speak different languages, learn new things. Absorb the culture. Squeeze the airports and train stations! The idea of this space is to put all this together and see what comes out.
